Evaluation

An independent evaluation will be carried out over the course of the two-year programme.   Peter Cox of TMPL Consulting, Cardiff has been awarded the Evaluation Commission.   Evaluation will provide both a valuable account and a useful analysis of work undertaken through In Context 3.   It is envisaged that evaluation will cover all aspects of the programme including the residency commissions, the roads commission, the mediation commission and the overall management of the programme.   Peter will evaluate the programme in terms of its established objectives and document the overall progress of In Context 3 including the processes involved and the outcomes arising.   A final evaluation report will also be produced, which will articulate the learnings gained and make recommendations for the commissioning of similar public art projects in the future of South Dublin County.

Peter Cox's approach to the In Context 3 mediation is as follows:

"I am carrying out an independent evaluation of In Context 3 over the course of the two-year programme in order to provide both an account of activity and an analysis of the work undertaken. I envisage that the evaluation will cover all aspects of the programme including the residency commissions, the roads commission, the mediation commission, and the overall management of the programme. In particular it will:
Evaluate the programme in terms of its established objectives
Document the overall progress of In Context 3 including the processes involved and the outcomes arising
Produce a final evaluation report that articulates the learnings gained and makes recommendations for the commissioning of similar public art projects in the future in South Dublin County.
The evaluation is made up of two strands: Formative, ensuring that experience and data are collected, analysed and fed back to the project in a timely way to ensure that it can impact on the success of the project; and Summative, providing a review of the whole project to document learning for the future All levels of the programme itself must own the evaluation process and be aware of the powerful impact that it can have not just on measuring but improving project delivery.
